Transformer Calculations

Here I will share various transformer related equations.

Turns per Volt

Turns per volt, $$T_{PV} = \frac{ 1 }{ 4.44 \cdot A_{core} B_{max} f }$$

Where:

• A_core is area of the transformer core.
• B_max – Maximum flux density in Tesla. For normal steel materials it can be taken as 1.5T.
• f is frequency. Usually 50 or 60 for main supplies.

Core Area Required

Core area, $$A_{core} = 1.152 \sqrt{ V_{out} I_{out} }$$
